Once we had a beautiful collection of outdoor portraits, we headed back to the Noah’s Ark Photography studio. And here’s where we really get to play.

The studio is my happy place. It’s where I can control the light, switch up backgrounds in seconds, and let seniors experiment with more dramatic or fashion-forward looks. Olivia slipped into a completely different energy here — still herself, but with this elevated, confident vibe that I just loved.

She had a couple of killer outfit changes that worked perfectly in studio lighting. From soft, natural looks to something a little more bold and editorial, we got a range of portraits that show just how multi-dimensional she is.

I can’t talk about Olivia’s day without giving you a few tips in case you’re planning your own senior portraits:

• Pick locations that mean something to you. Wayzata worked for Olivia because it matched her style and gave us tons of variety.

• Bring outfit options. Layers, accessories, and a mix of casual and dressy can totally change the feel of your portraits.

• Trust the process. Some of my favorite portraits happen when seniors let loose and try something unexpected.

• Have fun! Seriously — if you’re relaxed and having a good time, it will show in every image.
